Keenagers
Keenagers Senior Adult Ministries
The Assemblies of God Central office classifies anyone over 50 as the target group for the senior’s ministry. Glad Tidings offers a ministry called “Keenagers” to this group. Well over 100 members of our church are in this age group. Each month we send out over 80 invitations to individuals and couples for Keenager events. Most of the activities are designed to allow for Christian fellowship. Each activity promotes fun and fellowship while sharing a meal with fellow believers. The meetings involve ministry and always involve prayer for needs of members of the church body and for the ministry of the church.
The Keenagers group meets on a regular basis each month for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Breakfasts have been at DeBorah’s restaurant and they have been well attended with excellent fellowship. Luncheons have been at the church with a sing-along from the old hymnals, at Meadow Restaurant, and at Noah’s Italian Restaurant. Dinners are held at the church each quarter. They are special dress up occasions with a catered meal, good entertainment and inspirational speakers.
Groups of Keenagers also attend special events such as the North Carolina State Fair, Gaither’s Homecoming Concert, and more. We visit special exhibits such as the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. More activities are planned for the coming year.
